Sandals Cancellation Policy: What to Know Before You Book
Sandals' real cancellation penalty schedule — full refund at 46+ days, a 50% penalty at 45-31 days, no refund inside 30 — plus overwater suite deposits and other exceptions.
Sandals' standard cancellation policy is a tiered penalty schedule based on how close you cancel to your arrival date — no minimum cancellation charge outside 45 days, a 50% penalty from 45 to 31 days, and a full penalty inside 30 days. Sandals Saint Vincent is explicitly covered by the same Terms & Conditions (its balcony infinity pool suites are named alongside Grenada, Jamaica, and Barbados in the contract's waiver clause). Sandals Royal Curaçao isn't mentioned anywhere in the version of the terms we reviewed, so confirm its specific terms directly before booking. Here's exactly how the standard schedule breaks down, plus a few important exceptions worth knowing before you book.
Sandals Cancellation Policy FAQ
What is Sandals' cancellation penalty schedule?
Per Sandals' Terms & Conditions, the minimum cancellation charges are: if notice is received 45 to 31 days prior to arrival, 50% of the purchase price, including any applicable airline fees. If notice is received 30 to 0 days prior to arrival, 100% of the purchase price, including any applicable airline fees. Outside the 45-day window, these minimum cancellation charges don't apply — though specific room categories and holiday travel dates carry their own always-non-refundable deposits regardless of when you cancel (see below).
Does this apply to every Sandals resort, including Saint Vincent and Curaçao?
Sandals Saint Vincent is explicitly named in the same Terms & Conditions document (it's grouped with Grenada, Jamaica, and Barbados in the contract's balcony infinity pool waiver clause), which is good evidence the standard schedule covers it. Sandals Royal Curaçao isn't mentioned anywhere in the version of the terms we reviewed — confirm its specific cancellation terms directly with Sandals or your Sandals Elite Advisor before booking, rather than assuming the standard schedule applies.
When is full payment due?
Sandals requires full payment 60 days before your arrival date. Bookings made 60 days or less before arrival must be paid in full at the time of booking, and Sandals may cancel and release any booking that hasn't been paid in full by that 60-day mark.
Are overwater bungalows, villas, and bungalow suites handled differently?
Yes. Over-the-Water Villas and Over-the-Water Bungalows require a $2,500 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit at the time of booking. Seaside Bungalows and Poolside Bungalows require a $1,000 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit. Both apply on top of the standard cancellation schedule above and can't be moved to a lower room category if you downgrade.
Are travel insurance premiums or airfare refundable if I cancel?
Insurance premiums are non-refundable once purchased. Airfare is included in the 45-31 and 30-0 day penalty calculations above, but certain airline tickets may be non-refundable regardless of when you cancel, subject to that airline's own fare rules — airfare can't be booked as a standalone item and must be sold together with a resort stay.
What do I need to actually cancel a reservation and get any refund I'm owed?
You must request and receive an official cancellation confirmation number to qualify for a refund. Any payments already made are applied against the cancellation charges first, with any remaining balance refunded — keep your confirmation number, since it's how a refund gets verified.
What happens if I simply don't show up?
No refunds or adjustments are made for any unused portion of a vacation, and a guest who doesn't arrive and doesn't notify Sandals before or on the scheduled arrival day forfeits the entire paid cost of the package. No-show payments are non-refundable, non-transferable, non-redeemable, and non-revisable.
I booked through a travel agent — who handles my cancellation?
Your travel agent or tour operator acts as your agent for the booking and can't modify or waive Sandals' terms on your behalf. In practice, that means cancellation requests get processed through whoever holds your reservation — your agent if you booked through one, or Sandals directly if you booked direct. If you booked through a Sandals Elite Advisor, your advisor handles this step for you.
